An Etch in Time
The Story of Me
This laser-etched denim dress was inspired by the artwork of Adolph Gottlieb. Gottlieb, an American abstract expressionist, often used pictographs in his work. For this project I designed my own pictographs that tell a story of my childhood.
The Wave- I will forever be grateful to have grown up so close to a coast.
The KH- An abstraction of my initials
The Comb- It wasn’t until I got to college that I realized how rare it is to live 20 minutes from your grandparents’ house your whole life. My grandmother is a hairdresser and up until college was the only person to ever cut my hair.
The Field- My dad and my brother are both baseball players and fanatics. I’ve attended hundreds of games in my lifetime.
The State- The last pictograph represents North Carolina, the place where I was born, raised, and educated.
